The Federal Capital Territory Administration(FCTA) has launched a comprehensive medical outreach to screen over 250,000 residents as part of the Federal Government’s Project “10 Million” initiative.
A statement by the FCT Senior Special Assistant to the Mandate Secretary on Health and Environment Secretariat, Bola Ajao, stated that this is in line with the Federal Ministry of Health directive to all state health ministries nationwide.
This is to conduct a seven-day free screening exercise between 28th of Oct and 3rd of Nov, 2024, as part of the Project 10 Million initiative otherwise known as ” Know Your Number, Control Your Number”.
“This campaign aims to screen residents for blood pressure and blood sugar levels to combat non-communicable diseases, which often progress without noticeable symptoms.
“The Mandate Secretary FCT Health Services and Environment Secretariat Dr Adedolapo Fasawe stated that FCT Minister Barr. Nyesom Wike (CON) encourages all residents to participate in these essential free health screenings.
“The Federal Capital Territory Administration is fully prepared for this initiative and has partnered with key stakeholders to reduce the prevalence of non-communicable diseases.”

Fasawe emphasized the timeliness of this exercise, revealing that over 250,000 residents are targeted.
She encouraged residents to take advantage of this opportunity, allowing health workers to check their blood pressure and blood sugar levels, as early detection can make these conditions more manageable.
The program will cover over 200 communities across the FCT, with health workers reaching every part of the city to ensure success and accessibility. General hospitals, primary health centres, mosques, churches, markets, garages, and parks will be visited for maximum reach and convenience.
The public is assured that the exercise is safe and harmless.
For severe cases detected, referrals will be made to government hospitals, with medications provided to help ease any financial burden on patients for free
The exercise will run across FCT from October 30th to November 5th, 2024.
