FCT Emergency Boss Pledges Stronger Partnership With Fire Service To Tackle Emergencies

ABUJA – The Acting Director General of the FCT Emergency Management Department (FEMD), Engineer Abdulrahman Mohammed, has committed to enhancing collaboration with the FCT Fire Service to boost emergency response efforts across the Federal Capital Territory.

This pledge was made during a meeting with the Acting Director of the FCT Fire Service, Mr. Zacheus Adebayo, at the FEMD conference room.

Abdulrahman emphasized that inter-agency cooperation is essential for managing disasters and emergencies in the FCT.

He urged the Fire Service to ensure that the facilities at the Fire School in Sheda are well-maintained for the effective training of firemen.

He also called for increased synergy between the two agencies to promote sustainable development within the FCT.

Acting Director of Administration, Mr. Azeez Kadiri, added that basic firefighting drills should be introduced for FEMD staff and recommended a risk assessment of the department’s corporate office to enhance safety.

In his remarks, Mr. Adebayo highlighted the lack of training and awareness as significant barriers to effective safety management in Nigeria.

He called for collective efforts to address these challenges and improve emergency response systems.
