EFCC Condemns Unauthorized Use Of Accoutrements By Skits Makers

Following the resurgence of an old video titled “EFCC and Army Wahala” on social media, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has expressed strong disapproval over the unauthorized use of its operational accoutrements in skits.

The Commission who spoke in a statement issued on Monday reiterated its earlier warnings to skit makers and other content creators, urging them to refrain from using EFCC’s materials irresponsibly.

The controversial video, “EFCC and Army Wahala,” is a satirical portrayal of EFCC operatives engaging in unprofessional behaviour, with the supposed officers seen harassing and intimidating “suspects.”

The EFCC has condemned the video, describing it as not only embarrassing but also a calculated attempt to tarnish the Commission’s image.

The anti-graft agency emphasized that its operatives are well-trained professionals who adhere to strict codes of conduct, maintaining decency, civility, and respect for the rights of individuals, including those under investigation for economic and financial crimes.

The caricature in the skit, according to the Commission, misrepresents the true nature of its work.

Skit makers and content creators have once again been warned to desist from using EFCC’s operational materials without authorization, as such actions are not only unlawful but damaging to the Commission’s public image.

The EFCC has stressed that future violations may result in legal consequences.
