The Nigerian Police Force has foiled an assassination attempt on Henry Okojie, a federal lawmaker representing Esan North-East/Esan South-East Federal Constituency in Edo State, just 24 hours before the Edo State Governorship election.

Okojie, husband of Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson, was targeted at his residence by gunmen disguised as police officers, travelling in a Lexus GX 470 with Rivers State plates.

The would-be assassins claimed to have an appointment and made their way to the seating room before security personnel intervened, causing two of the thugs to flee.
