ABUJA – The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) have initiated a high-level interregional study visit aimed at bolstering cyber diplomacy in West Africa and beyond.

The Commissioner for Infrastructure, Energy, and Digitalization, Sédiko Douka, participated in the visit, alongside diplomats from ECOWAS, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Organization of American States (OAS), and the African Union.

A statement by ECOWAS on Friday said that the programme focuses on the exchange of expertise in cyber governance and the development of confidence-building measures.

Supported by the German government, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), and the European Union, this initiative is part of a collective effort to advance cybersecurity in West Africa, combat cybercrime, and protect critical infrastructure.
