Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) under the umbrella of Joinbodi Cohort with support from Mac Arthur foundation has launched a policy dialogue and report presentation interventions on anti- corruption and accountability in governance and others .
Blueprint report that other activities in the report is working to improve public audit, tracking projects, ensuring transparency in project implementation and empowering communities.
A researcher for the report, Prof. Tade Oludayo, explained that the report involved the probing into the practices, policy changes that have arisen because of grantees , interventions, socio-economic benefits of the activities.
The University of Ibadan don, said other issues raised in the report is the challenges encountered, sustainability plans , areas needing further advocacy and potential factors that could impede or erode success recording.
He said 15 organizations focused their interventions on anti- corruption and accountability in governance .
On his part, the Africa Director, MacArthur Foundation, Dr. Kole Shettima, said the whole idea of the Cohort is to see how to enable groups and organizations that they support, so that they can work together.
“Instead of supporting one group or this other group individually, we try to bring together organizations, so that they can work together in order for them to achieve a bigger impact.
“And we also believe that instead of people claiming that they are the ones who have done something, why don’t we emphasize that all of us came together to contribute to something bigger. So, we are more interested in contribution than attribution.
“We think that all of us have our own energies, our own influences, our own networks, and that bringing together all these, our resources would make the difference rather than one individual going around and say that the one who have done this or the other one.
“So, that is the spirit behind the idea of the Cohort and I am very happy that those of you in civil society have come together to work on this cohort because we believe that you will learn from eachother.
“You will contribute to eachother. You will make a lot of difference by doing what you are all doing,” he said.
