The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Olatubosun Olufemi Oluyede, reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to the well-being of the family of the late Lt Gen Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, the immediate past COAS, during a meeting with members of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) at the Nigerian Army Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.
Gen Oluyede, who received the delegation led by NAOWA President Mrs. Mernan Oluyede (the wife of the COAS), emphasized the importance of an inclusive administration and unity within the association. He urged NAOWA to maintain a harmonious environment that would give their husbands peace of mind in their official duties.
The COAS also stressed the need for NAOWA to include the wife of the late General Lagbaja in their activities and assured the association that the Nigerian Army would continue to support the family, honoring the former COAS’s legacy.
In his address, Gen Oluyede praised NAOWA for its vital role in supporting military families and keeping the home front stable during the absence of spouses on military duties. He encouraged the new leadership to build on the association’s existing foundation of unity and service.

The COAS also assured full support for NAOWA’s initiatives, promising the completion of the National Headquarters under construction in Abuja.
Mrs. Mernan Oluyede, the President of NAOWA, congratulated the COAS on his confirmation as the 24th Chief of Army Staff and recognized the Army’s role in the association’s achievements. She unveiled her vision for NAOWA, focusing on unity, service, and the preservation of enduring legacies.
Her mission statement, “Enhancing humanity through a steadfast commitment to unity, service, and preservation of enduring legacies,” emphasizes NAOWA’s commitment to strengthening bonds among members and supporting military families through dedicated humanitarian efforts.
Mrs. Oluyede called for continued support from the Nigerian Army to help NAOWA achieve its objectives, emphasizing the association’s role in empowering future generations while contributing to national stability and security.
