Ballon d’Or: Rio Ferdinand reveals only way Rodri can win award

Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand has suggested the only way Manchester City midfielder Rodri can win the Ballon d’Or.

Recall that Rodri was among the 30-man players shortlisted for the award this year.

The Spain international won the Premier League and the Euro 2024.

He will compete with the likes of Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe for the prestigious individual prize.

However, Ferdinand feels Rodri needs to put a number ten shirt on his back in order to win the Ballon d’Or.

“I just think he needs to put a number ten on his back and he might win it. That is the only thing, he is arguably the most complete footballer on the planet,” Ferdinand said (via Eurosport).

“He is the most consistent, arguably. I would have him as that. If he wins it there will be no arguments, every area of his game is an eight or nine out of ten at the moment, and it has been like that for maybe three years.”
