Head coach of the Desert Foxes of Algeria, Djamel Belmadi, has described the Super Eagles a good team that gave his side a real test in Tuesday’s international friendly in Oran. The Algerians came from a goal down to win 2-1 and maintain their dominance over the Super Eagles. Terem Moffi opened the scoring for the Eagles after reacting quickest to a rebound but Riyad Mahrez drew Algeria level from the penalty spot. And Youcef Atal netted the winner with a superb long range strike. It is now four consecutive wins for the Desert Foxes against the Super Eagles. And reflecting on the win Belmadi said:"Nigeria are a good team, it was a real test. We played against them three times under my tenure. We beat them three times. They wanted to take their revenge. "Conceding a goal can break your momentum. We lacked vigilance, I don't like it because I insist on it. We stuck to our plan. We relocated and reworked this team. "I like what we saw in the second half in midfield. Normally, there is everything you need to have a seat and a way to play. We have what it takes with these ... Continue Reading »

Super Eagles winger, Simon Moses has blamed the referee's officiating in the team's 2-1 loss to Algeria in an international friendly game played on Tuesday. Recall that Nigeria took the lead just eight minutes into the game when Terem Moffi struck for Nigeria before Manchester City star, Riyad Mahrez levelled parity for the Fennecs in the 40th minute when he converted from the spot. However, Youcef Atal cracker, 21 minutes later, condemned the Peseiro to his first defeat to an African side since taking over the team earlier in the year. Reacting to the game, Simon faulted the officiating from the centre referee and also said that the game did not go the way they planned it. "Actually the game did not go the way we planned it. But it's part of the job because we learn every day. And I believe we will pick a lot from it. "We all know that the referee did not give us justice. But then the coach said we should forget about it and keep fighting. We just need to encourage and motivate ourselves because we play for pride, we play for our family and the Nigerian fans. I believe we did our best but it did not ... Continue Reading »

In the 16th minute a chance fell for Mahrez on the edge of the box but his shot was blocked for a corner. Mahrez almost equalised for Algeria on 20 minutes following a poor back pass header by Zaidu Sanusi but his strike came off the post. The Algerians continued to probe and were almost rewarded on 27 minutes but Calvin Bassey made a timely block from a dangerous cross. In the 29th minute Ademola Lookman thought he had doubled the Super Eagles lead but he was flagged for offside. Iheanacho tested the ... Continue Reading »
